ଗାଆଁର ପଚାଶ ପଞ୍ଚାବନ ବର୍ଷର ମହିଳା ନେତ୍ରମଣି l ଆଜିକାଲିକା ରାଜନୀତିର ପଶାଖେଳ କ’ଣ ବୁଝେନା l ତା’ ପାଇଁ ସମସ୍ତେ ସମାନ l କାହାର ସିଏ ମାଉସୀ, କାହାର ସିଏ ଖୁଡ଼ୀ l ସେ କାହା ମନରେ ଦୁଃଖ ଦେବାକୁ ଚାହେଁନା l ବ୍ୟାଲଟ୍ ପେପରରେ ସବୁ ଚିହ୍ନରେ ମୋହର ମାରିଦିଏ l ଏବେ ସିନା ଇ.ଭି.ଏମ୍. ପ୍ରଚଳନ ହେଲାଣି l ନେତ୍ରମଣି ବୁଢ଼ୀ ଏବେ ଯଦି ବଞ୍ଚିଥାନ୍ତା, ତେବେ କ’ଣ କରିଥାନ୍ତା କେଜାଣି ?

       ଜୀବନରେ ବହୁତ କଷ୍ଟ ପାଇଛି l ସ୍ୱାମୀକୁ ହରେଇବାର ଦୁଃଖକୁ ଚାପି ଦେଇଛି, ପୁଅକୁ ମଣିଷ କରିବାର ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଭିତରେ l କାହା ଘରେ ଚାଉଳ ପାଛୁଡ଼ିଛି, ତ କାହା ଘରେ ବାସନ ମାଜିଛି l କିନ୍ତୁ ହାତ ପତେଇନି କୋଉଠି l ପୁଅକୁ ବି ବାସ୍ତବତା ସହ ପରିଚୟ କରେଇବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରିଛି l ନିଜର ସ୍ୱାଭିମାନକୁ ନେଇ ବଞ୍ଚିବା ଶିଖିଛି l

       ପୁଅ ପାଖରେ ରହି ଚାରିଧାମ କରିବା ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖୁଥିବା ମଣିଷଟି, ବୋହୁ ହାତ ପରଷା ପାଇବା ପାଇଁ ସହରାଭିମୁଖୀ ହୋଇଥିବା ମଣିଷଟି, ସ୍ୱାର୍ଥପର ପୁଅ ବୋହୁଙ୍କ ଠାରୁ ଲାଞ୍ଛିତ ହୋଇ ଗାଆଁକୁ ଫେରି ଆସିବା ପରେ ବି ତା’ର କାହା ପ୍ରତି ଅଭିସମ୍ପାତ ନାହିଁ l ସେ ପୁଅର ମଙ୍ଗଳ କାମନା କରୁଛି l ଗାଆଁ ହିସାବରେ ନାତୁଣୀ ଲିଜିକୁ ଡାକ୍ତର କରିବା ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ ଦେଖୁଛି l ପୁଣି ବଞ୍ଚିଛି ସେହି ସ୍ୱାଭିମାନକୁ ନେଇ l

ଶେଷରେ ପୁଅ କେଶବର କିଡନି ଖରାପ ହୋଇଯାଇଛି l ତାକୁ ବଞ୍ଚେଇବା ପାଇଁ ନିଜର ଅଙ୍ଗ ଦାନ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଇଚ୍ଛାପତ୍ର ଲେଖି ଆଖି ବୁଜିଛି ନେତ୍ରମଣି l ସେ କେବଳ ସ୍ୱାଭିମାନୀ ନୁହେଁ, ନିଃସ୍ୱାର୍ଥପର ମଧ୍ୟ l ନେତ୍ରମଣି ଭଳି ମହିଳା ହିଁ ଆମ ଭାରତୀୟ ନାରୀର ପ୍ରତୀକ l

ସ୍ଥାନେ ସ୍ଥାନେ ଢଗଢମାଳିର ପ୍ରୟୋଗ ନାଟକଟିକୁ ଆହୁରି ଜୀବନ୍ତ କରି ତୋଳି ରଖିଛି l ସ୍ଥାନ କାଳ ପାତ୍ର ଦୃଷ୍ଟିରୁ ବେସ୍ ଯୁଗୋପଯୋଗୀ ନାଟକଟିଏ l

କେବଳ ସେତିକି ନୁହେଁ l ସାମ୍ପ୍ରତିକ ରାଜନୀତି ପଶାପାଲିରେ କେମିତି ନେତ୍ରମଣି ଭଳି ମହିଳାମାନେ ଶୋଷିତ ହୋଇଯାଆନ୍ତି, ତାହା ବି ବେଶ୍ ସୁନ୍ଦର ଭାବରେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ହୋଇଛି ନାଟକଟିରେ l

ସର୍ବୋପରି ସ୍ଥାନେ ସ୍ଥାନେ ନାଟକୀୟ ଭଙ୍ଗୀରେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଚରିତ୍ର ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ହାସ୍ୟରସ ପରିବେଷଣ ନାଟକଟିକୁ ବେଶ୍ ମଧୁର କରିଦେଇଛି l ପାଠକଙ୍କୁ ବେଶ୍ ହସର ଖୋରାକ ଯୋଗାଇବାରେ ସମର୍ଥ ହୋଇପାରିଛି l

ବି.ଦ୍ର. ନାଟକଟି ଆକାଶବାଣୀ କଟକରେ ପ୍ରସାରିତ ହୋଇସାରିଛି ।

Netramani is a fifty-five-year-old village woman. She doesn’t understand the deceptive games of modern politics. To her, everyone is the same—someone’s aunt, someone’s grandaunt. She doesn’t wish to hurt anyone’s feelings. She used to stamp all the symbols on the ballot paper, not knowing what they meant. Now that EVMs are in use, who knows what Netramani would have done if she were still alive?

She had endured a lot of hardship in life. She suppressed the sorrow of losing her husband, holding on to the dream of raising her son to be a good man. Sometimes she worked for rice in others' houses, sometimes for cleaning utensils—but she never begged from anyone. She tried to make her son understand the reality of life and learned to live with dignity.

A woman who dreamed of living out her last days with her son, of being lovingly served by her daughter-in-law in the city, returned to the village dishonored by the selfishness of that very son and daughter-in-law. Still, she held no grudge. She only prayed for her son’s well-being and dreamed of making her granddaughter Liji a doctor. She lived once again—with her dignity.

In the end, when her son Keshab's kidneys failed, she signed a donation form offering her own organs and peacefully closed her eyes. Netramani was not only a woman of pride, but also of selflessness. Women like Netramani are true symbols of Indian womanhood.

This play has brought the character to life with vivid expression at various places. From the perspective of setting, time, and characters, the drama is quite contemporary.

Not only that, the play also beautifully portrays how women like Netramani are exploited in today’s political game of thrones.

Above all, the use of humor through various characters in dramatic gestures at different stages adds charm to the play. It successfully delivers hearty laughter to the audience.
