Bandhumilana (ବନ୍ଧୁମିଳନ)

୨୦୧୯ ମସିହା ଉତ୍କଳ ସାହିତ୍ୟ ସମାଜ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପ୍ରଥମ ପୁରସ୍କାରପ୍ରାପ୍ତ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ।

ଆଙ୍ଗୁଠି କଟିଗଲା ବେଳେ ସେ ଜାଗାକୁ ଚାପି ରଖି ରକ୍ତର ଧାରକୁ ବନ୍ଦ କରିବାକୁ ଗଲା ବେଳେ ଛିଣ୍ଡା କପଡ଼ାର ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱ ଜଣା ପଡ଼େ । ଠିକ୍ ସେମିତି ବୟସ ଢଳିଗଲା ବେଳେ ପୁରୁଣା ସାଙ୍ଗମାନଙ୍କର ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱ ଜଣା ପଡ଼ିଥାଏ । ଏମିତି କିଛି କିଛି ସାଙ୍ଗଙ୍କର ମିଳନର କାହାଣୀ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ବନ୍ଧୁମିଳନ ।

ପାଖରେ ସାଙ୍ଗ ଥିଲେ ନରକ ବି ସରଗ ଭଳି ଲାଗେ l ସଙ୍ଗତି ଯେମିତି ଆମୋଦଦାୟକ, ସ୍ମୃତି ତା’ଠାରୁ ଆହୁରି ରୋମାଞ୍ଚକର l ଦିନେ ମୁଁ ପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପାଖରେ ଅଳି କରି ଲେଖିଥିଲି –

ଆର ଜନମକୁ,

ସ୍ୱର୍ଗ ପଠା ଅବା ପାତାଳ ପଠା

ଯମପୁରେ ପଛେ ଖାଏ ଗୋଇଠା

ସୁଖ ଦୁଃଖ ମୋର ବାଣ୍ଟିବା ପାଇଁ

ରଖିଥିବ ପାଖେ ସାଙ୍ଗ ଦୁଇଟା

       ମୁଁ ଯାହାଙ୍କୁ ମନେ ରଖିଛି, ଆଉ ଯେଉଁମାନେ ମୋତେ ମନେ ରଖିଛନ୍ତି, ଯାହାର ସ୍ନେହ ଶ୍ରଦ୍ଧାକୁ ଗଣ୍ଠିଧନ କରି ଏ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ମୁଁ ସାଇତି ରଖିଛି, ସେହି ସାଙ୍ଗମାନଙ୍କୁ ମୋ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ ବନ୍ଧୁମିଳନ ସସ୍ନେହେ ଉତ୍ସର୍ଗ କଲି l

When friends are near, even hell feels like heaven.
Just as companionship brings joy, memories born of it are even more thrilling. One day, I wrote in prayer before the Lord:

In the next life,
Whether you send me to heaven or the underworld,
Even if I’m beaten in the land of Yama,
To share my joys and sorrows,
(O Lord)
Keep two friends by my side.

Those whom I remember — and who have remembered me — whose love and respect I have treasured like precious wealth all these years, to those friends I lovingly dedicate my novel "Bandhumilan" (The Reunion of Friends). A novel that received the First Prize from Utkal Sahitya Samaj in the year 2019.

Only when a finger is cut do we realize the value of a torn piece of cloth — when we press it on the wound to stop the bleeding. Just like that, as we grow older, we begin to understand the true worth of old friends.

“Bandhumilan” — The Reunion of Friends — is a novel that tells the story of such rare and meaningful reunions with some of those friends.
